Taking good news to every young person in Bath

After School Projects for Young People

Bath YFC has a track record of delivering exciting after school activities. We often do this in partnership with the school involved and other local partners such as a church in the local community. Recent and current examples of work include:

Girls football - Delivered at Ralph Allen School in Bath, FA qualified coaches from Bath YFC and local church, Holy Trinity, deliver an after school girl's football club for girls from 11-16. Sessions include training, matches and have also included social gatherings during the year.

Southdown Football Project - Delivered at Culverhay School in Bath, FA qualified coaches from Bath YFC and a couple of local churches have over the past four years provided an after school football session for boys at the school. The club has a weekly social time where those that want to are able to come back to the local church hall to reflect on the game, enjoy refreshments, and shoot pool, play table tennis or challenge one another on games consoles

Drop-In - Delivered in partnership with St. Luke's Church, Wellsway, Drop-In provides a safe and social after school space for young people.  The club runs in the youth space at the church every Wednesday during term time from 3.30-5.30pm.  Activities include XBox 360 with Konnect and other games.  There is also a tuck shop for those needing some energy after a busy day at school.

Thrive - As well as running this within the curriculum we have also run the Thrive skate course as an after school activity, you can find out more by clicking here.

Art Academy - Bath YFC delivers an art project in Hayesfield Lower School every week. The weekly sessions have provided the opportunity for those who come along to try different art mediums such as cartoon work, graffiti, portraits and pottery amongst other things. Those who get involved also have the opportunity to display their work in youth friendly venues and during 2011, in Wells Cathedral. This not only gives them a sense of achievement but also allows others to enjoy their work.

Young people involved in these projects have said the following when asked about the impact on them of the activity they are involved in:

- "I am getting more healthier, and it has helped me get more active."

- "It has made me a better player, I made new friends."

- "I am more confident in art, I have learnt new techniques and I get to do more art."
