Taking good news to every young person in Bath
The Graff Project
Graff is an innovative and exciting six session programme that is used to inspire both first time and experienced artists to use graffiti art in a positive way. The programme can be run in a school or local community over a whole day, two half days or six one hour sessions and helps the young people learn what makes a good piece of graffiti art and then go about producing their own piece of work. The programme is taught by experience graffiti artists and youth workers using a workbook to break down the different aspects of graffiti art to help the young person progress towards the final piece.
Graff also holds one off workshops for other organisations seeking to use graffiti art to engage with young people. We have worked with around 25 young people in Keynsham to completely repaint 'Echo Bridge'. We have also held one off workshops with the Children's Society in Fox Hill, Odd Down, Saltford and Twerton. Graffiti statistics in Bath remain low, and we are supported by the police, the council and other organisations, who can all see the benefit of what we do.
Graff has been presented as a leading example of innovation at a South West Crime Prevention Conference. It is an exciting and dynamic project, reaching young people that are often criminalised, rejected and misunderstood by society.
