Over the last few years, we have worked with boys in a variety of settings and had a growing sense that we needed to think again about how we help boys encounter God, understand who they are and grow into the plans and purposes God has for them. The Quest is our attempt to respond to this. In many non-western cultures rites of passage continue, seeing the young male tested to his limits, forced to face life head on, and with God, to overcome.

The Quest is a three day adventure in the Brecon Beacons where those who come, carry all their kit, set up camp and take on mountains and navigation of the National Park. We plan a variety of ‘moments’ during the trip to create space to pray, think, reflect and encounter God in the wild beauty of the surroundings.

Our hope is that the Quest will give boys the opportunity and space to develop their identity, spirituality and purpose through adventure, risk, ‘brotherhood’ and a journey. We successfully ran The Quest in 2015 & 2016 with four boys on each trip.

The programme will bring together a group of boys for orientation and other activities to help the group get to know one another. This will culminate in the 3 day experience in July or August. The Quest is aimed at boys in year 10 upwards and above and will cost £100-£150 (depending on pre-adventure activities), which includes all trip costs. If you would like your son or a young man in your church or community to be part of this please get in touch with James by clicking here or call the office on 01225 336055 or download the booking form here. There are just six places so if you are interested you will need to get in touch as soon as possible.

If you would like to read a report on the 2015 experience you can click here. This contains some thoughts from the young people involved and their parents.
